Ien Lucas (1955, the Netherlands) imbues her paintings with nothing and expresses nothing; the painter paints and thinks as she paints. While they are by nature abstract acrylic paintings on canvas or acrylic glass, or epoxy compositions, they are, at the same time, explorations of an internal world, colorful confessions about the essence of painting, alibis for the unfettered use of artistic materials and fervent experimentation. They reveal an optimistic outlook and a deep love for painting.
