Herbert Hamak

Herbert Hamak (1952, Germany) is greatly interested in the history of painting and in particular the issues around investigating colour. Hamak has developed a technique all his own: instead of applying paint to canvas with a brush, he mixes his pigments in powdered form, using artist’s resin, which he pours into thick blocks with the aid of a mould. This way, he ends up with remarkable patches of colour that exude an intense depth effect.
