Evi Vingerling

Each of my works is part of anything and everything.
Evi Vingerling

The work of Evi Vingerling (1979, the Netherlands) reveals itself slowly to the viewer, taking time to unlock. Her artistic process begins with a photograph of a fleeting moment in day-to-day life, such as a plant or the play of shadows on a mountain ridge. Working from her memory of that snapshot, Vingerling subsequently mines the essence of the captured moment anew through a series of drawings, in search of the sensorial experience it awakened in her. Avoiding leading titles, Vingerling welcomes free association and invites viewers to find own meaning within her work. Vingerling’s elusive paintings form a bridge to another way of seeing the vast and beautiful world around us.
