Emma Talbot

My movements and behavior originate with someone from a distant past whose existence I don’t even know of. It’s how all of us are connected, part of a much bigger story. So something being transitory doesn’t equate to it being lost. We just can’t see it anymore.

Though not in material application, Emma Talbot (1969, Great Britain) is fundamentally a collagist. She composes her pieces with fragments and snippets from a life’s worth of myths, music, shifting states and styles. It is overwhelmingly sensual and deeply personal, but never limited by that nature. Instead, the vividly colored existence shown in her weavings, paintings and objects hold the same sway over our subconscious as fairy tales and fables do, yet rendered with the immediacy of a life lived.
