Carel Blotkamp
In addition to being an artist, Carel Blotkamp (1945, the Netherlands) also used to be professor of art history at the VU Amsterdam. Oftentimes texts will be the starting point for his work, with the history of modern art having been an important theme for many years. His recent work refers to famous artists such as Henri Matisse, Kazimir Malevitsj and Barnett Newman. By explicitly referring to these classics, he is the cause of much confusion. The viewer is transformed into the medium through whom a complex and intriguing exegeses of art is carried out.
