Bob Negrijn
Bob Negrijn (1961, Delft, The Netherlands) has a multifaceted oeuvre. In his recent work, photography has been the main medium, but in the past he has also made paintings, prints, sculptures and installations. He focuses specifically on mundane and 'ordinary' things, the things that people normally would not notice.
Negrijn's photographs are often based on the relationship between humanity and its environment, often the historical relationship. Negrijn examines this relationship from different angles, including the influence of history and of economic progress upon a landscape. "I'm interested in how history and socio-economic conditions affect people and how that can be traced in the landscape. The Netherlands, for example, a 'middle class' society with a high degree of organization, and that is reflected in our landscape," says Negrijn.*
