Antonietta Peeters

One travels through the painting solely visually. The eye bounces across the painting like a ball through a pinball machine.
Antonietta Peeters

Antonietta Peeters’ (1957, the Netherlands) paintings call to mind a diaspora. Each individual work displays its own variety of dynamism, rhythm and resonance, like an abstract landscape. But they are landscapes beheld through a foreign eye, belonging to some universal constant or an insect moving at speed, forcing the viewer to return to the two-dimensional surface.
