Anthony Goicolea (1971, United States) is an American artist of Cuban background. Goicolea draws, photographs and creates installations and video art. His work explores diverse themes such as identity, cultural traditions, alienation and displacement. Male adolescence in particular is a central subject of his work, a theme that highlights the worship of eternal youth in Western culture. Goicolea also explores his own identity, cultural elements and family history through self-portraits. His art often reflects a profound search for his roots and past.
