Paint the Future Workshop
Together with the Research, Development & Innovation department, the Art Foundation organized the 'Paint the Future' workshop for twenty-one startups who had developed innovative solutions for the paint and coating industry. The production of air-purifying coatings or the conversion of waste into bio-oils and minerals are examples of this.
To guarantee the quality of the workshop, four professionals were appointed by the Art Foundation: artists Ulrike Rehm and Gijs Assmann, whose work is part of the AkzoNobel Art Collection, and architect Thomas Dill and visual artist Arash Fakhim. Before the participants got started, they noted down five words that they believe are essential for the future. Then they started making paint themselves and then they complemented each other, each on one side of a large plexiglass. Nature was a favorite. It evoked associations with Van Gogh and Hockney. Without nature there is no future, the works communicate.
