Boekpresentatie Wouter van Riessen - Joujou Baudelaire

On 11 June, the AkzoNobel Art Foundation celebrated the presentation of Joujou Baudelaire, artist Wouter van Riessen's new book

With Joujou Baudelaire, Van Riessen portrays the life of Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867) through analogue-photographed hand puppets, exploring his own identification with this nineteenth-century figure. The book presents 32 tableau plates, accompanied by fragments of Baudelaire's poetry and an interview with the artist by Cornel Bierens.

Patricia Pisters, professor of film and media culture at the University of Amsterdam, gave an introduction on transience and the role of music in artistic practice. Pisters and Cornel Bierens then joined Wouter van Riessen in conversation, moderated by Art Foundation director Hester Alberdingk Thijm.

Joujou Baudelaire is published by Roma Publications, made possible in part by the Mondriaan Fonds and the Jaap Harten Fonds.
