The Dependent Object No. 0.5, 2016

Though it may be tempting to call the work of artist and designer Chan Chiao Chun (1984, Taiwan) strange, it is the kind of strangeness which is created in collusion with reason. His work is never more than a few steps removed from recognizable normalcy, undermining and defining it in the process. In the same vein, The Dependent Object No. 0.5 (2016) displaces both body and mind by requiring their constant participation, emphasizing the oftentimes forgotten collaborative nature of the objects we surround ourselves with.
