In a departure from much of her earlier work focusing on human relationships and idiosyncrasies, this newest body of work by Karin Bos (1966, the Netherlands) gives precedence to nature and the great outdoors. In 2015, Bos traveled to Iceland. The series ‘Back to Base Camp’ is inspired by the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes she encountered during her journey. Wishing not only to document the unspoiled environment, Bos decided to ‘include’ the viewer in it. The names and GPS coordinates of the locations she visited are printed on the lines connecting the artworks, thus enabling viewers to follow in the artist’s footsteps. The works function as Bos’ artistic travel guide through the common ground of nature.
