We surrender our logic to the belief that answers do indeed exist, and so, by default, we invent them.

It is often as problematic to describe a specific visual language as it is to define a specific culture; the previous is a subset of the latter. It’s the intangible sum total of meanings, customs and interpretations expressed in much of art: visual language used to describe culture. The work of Ryan McGinness (1972, United States) makes this process its explicit subject. His visual language is specific, dazzlingly combining his collection of thousands of symbols and style phenomena to create a contemporary analysis of intuition and a language entirely his own.
