Femmy Otten
I don’t want to keep to confines. That urge is truly essential.

Myth and art grow from the same soil. They both describe reality as it exists within humanity’s reach. The mind weaves experiences, interactions and coincidences together into a whole that evades full description, even though it’s the stuff of our shared existence. It’s this experience of reality we recognize in Femmy Otten’s (1981, the Netherlands) work: the myth, gods and stone, silk which once brushed against the skin and the dream remembered. It is why the viewer so easily shares in her deeply personal work.
