Esther Tielemans
I research painting’s fundamentals; a suggested reality, a third dimension within a two-dimensional framework. To me, this semblance of reality runs parallel to our malleable world.

Esther Tielemans (1976, the Netherlands) investigates shape, color and matter. Having once been a painter of landscapes, nowadays her work itself has become the landscape. Bursting with color, they hang from walls, lie on the ground or are suspended in mid-air. The glossy epoxy surfaces reflect their surroundings and the viewer. Through transparent touches of paint they appear to be constantly illuminated by beams of light. They are paintings, but always conversing with the space they inhabit.
