Daniëlle Hoogendoorn

It is that play itself, painting for the sake of painting, that is to be appreciated.

Through her artistic practice, Daniëlle Hoogendoorn (1990, Netherlands) tells a deeply personal story—one rooted in motherhood and the experience of new life within a rural setting. After years of living in Amsterdam, she embarked on a deliberate shift towards a greener, quieter environment, marking the beginning of a new creative chapter.

Hoogendoorn’s approach to art is impulsive and associative, a process driven by intuition. Her ideas often take shape as mental collages, which she then brings to life through whichever materials feel essential to the work—be it painting, drawing, or ceramic sculpture. Her studio serves as a playful space where spontaneity guides her hand, and her colorful, vibrant works offer an organic, sometimes fragmented reflection of her daily life. Balancing motherhood with her artistic career has reshaped both her rhythm and her output. This new dynamic has given rise to a body of work that is quicker, rawer, and intentionally banal—yet no less impactful.
