Daan Paans
Dimensions of time play an important role in my projects. And by extension, an important theme in my work is the desire to gain insight into the transhistorical variability of image making.

Daan Paans (1985, Nederland) creates multimedia installations using photography, video, and sculpture to explore how we understand time and how it shapes our view of the world. His projects often begin with in-depth research, combining facts and imagination to question how images are created and how they gain meaning.
Paans investigates how certain images and symbols change over time while still remaining recognisable. Rather than providing clear answers, Paans encourages viewers to think critically about what they see and how meaning is constructed. His work connects past, present, and future, inviting us to reflect on how our ideas and beliefs shift over time. Alongside his art practice, Paans is also active as a writer and teacher.
